I just can not understand why atheists come here to post, unless it is to make fun of religious people.
As I understand it the very name atheist says they don't believe in ANY god or religion..
I feel atheism is a form of a religion. You have the same faith issues as believers, due to having NO absolute proof of your belief.
We find atheist trump Christians for prideful evangelistic rhetoric!
Like blaming Jesus for all the sins of people who are heading to hell for what they have done claiming to be "christians".
And they are constantly saying, with very mean words, the lie that "all evil comes from religion", when aheists like Stalin hold the world record for inhumanity and murder.
Imagine how unkind we might be to unbelievers, if we were not trying to emulate our loving Lord, by returning goood for evil as God said.
By seeing how mean the unChristian evangelists are in this YA Religion & Spirituality section, we see our own worst selves, trying too hard to "prove" what God wants to be an issue of faith.
God could prove His existance very easily if that would be a good thing, but he is like a traffic cop behind a billboard along a posted speed sign, catching those who will not follow His eternal moral standards of their own "inalienable", God given right of free choice.
Learn from experiences like this, even if it turns your stomach to read the hate and snobbery. Try to learn not to be anything like them when sharing your faith!
We believers represent our Lord very poorly, when ever we evangelize without a "heart of love" showing in our words.
God loves YOU...and them...and we need to love them, even when they are unlovely; because God loved us BEFORE we loved Him.
Some of us are spiritual.
You don't necessarily need to believe in a gawd to be spiritual.
And it's also possible to be religious and atheist at the same time. Look at Buddhists. A lot of them have no central deity as part of their core beliefs so they're technically atheist.
A simple disbelief in gawd is all it takes.
So what is so wrong with a spiritual Atheist. Hasn`t the spirit of truth move in you. Apparently not Oh well..!!

I told them about it and they didn't care. No athiest is searching for God, and if proof is provided they don't care.
They are just windbags with nothing to do but try to convince them selves there is a purpose to their blind existance.

School and Education systems are imposed upon by Creationism/ID agendas.
Our current political system has written into law in some states any political office being forbidden to an atheist. That speaks to discrimination.

your question isn't new - nor is it a good witness to whatever faith you practice.
atheists - at least most - have more education about religions than faithful adherents. atheists enjoy discussion and debate.
most religious people are offended and threatened by discussion and debate.
like it or not, this is a public forum and anyone can participate here on RS regardless of personal faith or non-faith.

Religion has nothing to do with spirituality.
Religion, particularly the Abrahamic religions, are about hate and lies.
Atheists are here to raise the level of intelligence of this forum.
You don't see atheists going to Tibet and lying to the people there. They do not tell them if you don't believe what I tell you to believe and pray what I tell you to pray than you are going to hell.

Because they are not into control through fear of an imaginary place.
I rejoice that atheist come to the Religion & Spirituality section as we as true lovers of our Lord Jesus Christ desirous of the advancement of His kingdom have the opportunity to be used of the Holy Spirit as the tools in His hand for the glory of our God and our Lord. We should rejoice that we have the opportunity to be used for the glory of God even though at times we may feel like we are accomplishing nothing. Let us always remember that it is not us but the Holy Spirit who convicts, reproves, converts, seals, preserves, empowers and on and on for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Would to God that we would stop putting atheists and other folks who do not believe as we do down and instead show them the fruit of the Spirit in our questions and answers which is love, joy, peace, goodness, longsuffering, meekness, gentleness, faith, temperance and any other gifts that He may give us. I truly believe that many more would be moved by our compassion, care, and concern for their souls rather than our strong rebuke not in love.
Most of us find religion harmful and therefore we express our opinion.
If it was harmless I wouldn't care what magical man in the sky you believe.
But since it causes wars and intolerance I like to voice my criticism.
To proclaim to the world that they are atheists, and to irritate the Christians.

So no Atheists could EVER have studied religion, have opinions on religion, have greater knowledge of even your own religion than you, eh? Of course not, educated people here? Impossible, right?
I don't believe in female circumcision or torture, bu that doesn't mean I don't have knowledge about both that I'd happily share to prevent others from suffering either. Same holds with religion. Sometimes the ONLY person who can answer the question of someone searching about religion is the person whose been on both sides of that religious fence.

We're just defending ourselves from the attacks by Christians who, unable to defend their bizarre beliefs, choose instead the Stalinesque tactic of demonizing others.
While there are some atheists who have behaved poorly here, you yourself have a long history of deliberately lying here for no purpose other than to attack others. There are Christians here - Debra M, for the most obvious example - who have a legitimate complaint, but you're a worse offender than any atheist who has ever come to this forum, and you've got no right to complain, kid.
If you want to be taken seriously, learn to behave yourself.
Many of us are trying to help those that have questions regarding belief or lack of belief.
It has been asked a lot but I think they come because it makes them think they are superior

Because every subject consists of two parts. The subject and the opposite of it. Men post all the time in women's studies. Healthy people post in the various disease board. If you have no contrasting opinion then you just have a lot of people licking each others boots and you have nothing to bring in a different opinion. Boring. If your faith is strong, then you should enjoy the interaction anyway. If you are not strong in what you believe, then when you see what you don't agree with, it intimidates you and you post questions like this one.
All who come here are seeking the truth Atheists are not exceptions to this rule.
If we consider ourselves Christians, Jesus only left us with only two suggestions for dealing with Atheists.
First He ask us not to judge them.
Secondly He ask us to love our neighbor.
Atheists are our neighbors.

That's a GOOD question........I can't understand it either....And it seems like there are TONS of them on here....But hey....Look on the bright side....Maybe with all the atheists on here, maybe they will read someones answer speaking about the Lord and His changing grace and maybe they will be saved......I can hope and pray. :) :)

Have you considered that religion may be interesting to atheists from a social aspect (R&S is in Society and Culture)?
Could it be that various religions affect the society that we live in? You may not care what enforcing your morality through laws do to others, but many of us do.
I'm sure that you could, if you thought about it, come up with many other valid reasons, other than the pat "I'm persecuted and atheist are only interested in making fun of me".

One does not need to believe in gods to ask and answer questions about gods. In fact, those who do not believe in gods can provide the most objective perspectives.
One does not need to be a cat to ask and answer questions in the cats section of Yahoo! Answers.
