i am a science teacher- to be. and i keep questioning myself, is this the career path i really like? my undergrad studies was supported by the ministry of education and i have 5 years contract to serve. my cgpa is 3.78 and i can't pursue my studies just becoz of that stupid contract. i hate teaching but i really love biology esp genetics. i am very upset and i don't think i will enjoy teaching. what should i do?
if you have a contract, you need to fulfill it. if you want out, talk to them and see what they will work out with you. It is miserable to do a job you hate.
Maybe you can find a way to incorporate what you love to do in with fulfilling your contract. I never heard of a teacher that stopped learning. If your smart you will find away. It sounds like you are. 5 years goes faster than you think it does. I thought teaching science is biology and genetics etc. Hmmm, aren't you glad your teachers didn't feel the way you are ?
You should talk with the ministry of education. People are more understanding than you think. Hey the most you would have to do is pay them back for the money they put towards your education, no difference from the many students who graduate and have students loans to repay. Rather this than hate your teaching job, snap at students, start to gray early and have colds every other month from stressors related to being in a job you never wanted to do.
If you don't think you'd enjoy teaching, please don't become a teacher!! As a student myself (presently a univeristy student) it's easy to tell which teachers want to be there and which don't...teachers who don't want to be there make students miserable, which in turn, makes the teacher more miserable...and it's just a vicious cycle! I'm going to school for education, but I honestly enjoy it. Couldn't you do something with biology w/out teaching? Biomedical engineering, or simply a biology major?
What kind of aggressive tropical freshwater fish go together? I want a ghost fish, African cichlids etc?
