| This section is called religion and spirituality, right? | | Published by: admin 2010-03-11 |
So why are so many unbelieving people reading and answering questions? For instance, a person who does not believe in God doesn't, for example, attend the Church of Atheists do they? And where does 'spirituality' fit in their life?
Please read this. It answers your question:

This is the best place on Y!A to discuss religion. I feel that all sides on issues are valid to a discussion and therefore atheists input should be just as welcome as any religious persons.
The subject of this section is R&S. It is open to anyone who would like to know more about it. You don't have to have cats to go into the cat section, do you???
I also come for the *Drinks*...
You don't have to be spiritual or religious to have an opinion on spirituality or religion.
atheist don't go to church huh,
http://www.acfnewsource.org/religion/ath...
they keep saying atheism isn't a religion but....I don't know,lol.
For the same reason there are doctors in the 'diseases' section.
They belong there even though they're not diseases themselves - they just help cure them.
It's religion and spirituality, but it's not "religion and spirituality for those who believe only".
Many atheists feel compelled to try to save the saved. Isn't that a hoot? Just deal with it. When they are insulting, overlook them. When they insist on intruding into questions addressed to certain religions just so they can make derogatory remarks, smile and ask God to work in their lives and reveal Himself to them. You can learn a lot from them, patience being the foremost.
"Because this isn't the " freaks only" section. Anyone can come on here and discuss religion and/or spirituality."
So then discuss- do not harass, insult and defame.
I am a believer, just not of your ilk. I daresay I am more spiritual that you ever imagined being, because I'm not in mortal fear for my life because of a megalomaniacal god. I can actually work WITH my deities, not kowtow before them. My deities respect me, yours thinks you are a worm.
people are here to discuss religion and spirituality. just because we (christians) don't like what other people believe or don't believe doesn't give us the right to say they shouldn't get an opinion. Jesus didn't come to condemn. so who are we to do it.
its like those people that say they don;t want gays, drug addicts and 'bad people' in their church. well im sorry but i think that is where they need to be. we have to start accepting people. Jesus does. so we should too. we should have enough faith to know that once they are there God can and will work out the rest.
but instead people these days think if they don't cast someone out for sinning then they are idk, contributing to it or something. well i disagree. we have no reason to turn someone away from a church or from this forum. God wouldn't. and w have no right to either. if He can give people (including me) change after chance after chance, then we can too.
Atheism is a kind of faith itself. Even to choose to believe in nothing, is STILL believing in a ideal that cannot be proved. It must be accepted on faith alone.
Now, watch how many atheists go off on a tantrum because of what I just said.
first off one can be spiritual and not believe in god. satanists, buddhists, and taoists are religions that are atheistic in nature.
But it's not called "The Believers Only Message Board".
As to atheists not fitting spirituality into their lives, mileage varies. Atheists are guaranteed to share only one thing, and that is a disbelief in the existence of any god(s). Aside from that, all bets are off. Many atheists (myself included) consider themselves spiritual. For me, it has nothing to do with literal "spirit", but with the nurturing of mind and body through nature, friendship, love, education, etc. It goes deeper, but I won't bore you with the details.
And anyway (back to my original point), people don't have to have a religion or be spiritual to be here. it's an open forum. Deal with it, or go elsewhere.
PS.. this question is asked about 100 times each day. A simple search could easily have found you your answer.
If being on Yahoo Answers means I'm in church, "I'm out of here" I won't go in to the churches today there full paganism like the sun God Tau, symbol the cross and his festival was on the 25th of Dec or Easter the pagan goddess "Queen of the Heavens" symbol the rabbit, hot cross buns, and dyed eggs, and on and on. I think the Atheist figured out the hypocrisy in the churches and they just want to let everyone know it. To bad they didn't do a little more research, they would of found out there is one true belief(Eph 4:5), all the rest are called a harlot"Babylon the Great" The Empire of False Religion at Revelation the 17th and 18th chapters. There's ridicules and radical ones on both sides. There's alot of honest hearted people that are asking good questions, and we all can reach out and touch somebody, give, get, and take a little advice. Besides without the Atheist I wouldn't get a good laugh now and then.
This section is called religion and spirituality, yes and I as an atheist am spiritual. I do not have to believe in hocus pocus - superstition to be be a person in contact with my inner self and and the wonders of others.
Why do some religious people get the arrogance to believe they are the only ones to be spiritual. Sort of sums it up - so arrogent they cannot see they laughable excuse for reality
That's right, it's "religion and spirituality", not "practitioners of a religion and/or spirituality".
Plenty of atheists are spiritual, like Buddhists.
If you want a Christians-only forum, go to one.
They do it to annoy people. It's there form of entertainment. Believer just have to ignore their rude questions and go on to another question that is serious.
Why do so many people ask this question?
Without the atheists here, I wouldn't have learnt half as much as I have. Why are you discriminating against Atheists? Sure, some of their arguments are stupid, but they have just as much a right to be here as everyone else. Some of their arguments are really good, and will help you to understand what you really believe in. I think that's worth the odd "God isn't real, dumbass".
Not really? ITs really call the atheists section? didnt notice the section was called christians only.
Early days of Yahoo was fun to get banned from the christians only chat rooms, all ya had to do was say you were an atheist and boom banned. Such hatred from such vile people and some how I am the bad guy?
What business is it of yours as to what my spirituality is anyways?
And no I dont belong to the church of the atheists since it doesnt exist and none of us would go to it anyways since most atheists I know abhor church as much as we abhor large groups of stupid people.
This really is an over asked question and has been answered countless times. However, to be interested in religion and spirituality, one doesn't have to be religious or spiritual.
There is a such thing as spirituality without religion. It isn't the Cristian section. So there are going to be people from all types of beliefs. Atheism is a belief. Just a different kind.
Because this isn't the " freaks only" section. Anyone can come on here and discuss religion and/or spirituality.
I am British and I live in Asia, I live in a free country where I can read, write and debate on any subject that I like.
If you wish to appear stereotypical of your religion and want to add restrictions to my rights and deprive me of my freedom, I will fight back with logic and reason.
Believe in all the myths, fairy tales and fantasies that you like, but do not expect me to sit here without replying to such nonsense.
right.
What is REALLY amazing is that ANYONE believes that there is a god. Isn't it about time we all acknowledged the Truth and evolved past this childish nonsense about some supernatural being flying around in some place out there?
sheeeeeeeeeesh
Where else would anyone go to ask and answer questions relating to religion and spirituality? Are you suggesting that the topic of religion is exclusively discussed only by religious or church attending people?
You're not gay but I bet you've got an opinion about being gay, like most christians do.
Did you know that not everyone in the cats section is a cat?
Shocking isn't it? They do not even require you to have a cat to participate. You only have to have questions, opinions, interest or knowledge about cats.
Wow..........wouldn't it be weird if this category were exactly like that?
Spirituality and religion are two different things, though people seem to think they are one in the same. Spirituality has to do with a personal belief. Religion is more of an organized belief that usually involves beliefs taught to people out of books written many, many years in the past.
Because Atheists who live a good life are the most spiritual people in the world.
They do it because it is RIGHT not for some fuzzy reward in the afterlife.
I am sure that God, Allah, Yahweh, FSM welcomes them warmly for that reason
Mellamar, Think about your comment for a moment.
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, it's your responsibility, calling to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. So, if nonbelievers are on this site, why on earth would you attempt to discourage them from throwing out a concern or two to see if you can help them, in their somewhat warped way?? If they weren't here, they wouldn't be curious, or looking for answers to questions they really don't know how to ask.
You are suppose to be a model of The Father's love.
Show me one place in The Word where Jesus had cross words for anyone other than the Pharisees! I haven't seen any ordained Pharisees on here, yet anyway!
Atheists don't have churches, because atheism is not a religion. Atheists are individuals who do not believe in the existence of a god or gods. We love to answer questions in this section in hopes of educating those of you who have been brainwashed into believing in imaginary beings. Spirituality is not the same as religion. Some people are non-religious but are nevertheless 'spiritual.' They may feel a 'mystical' connection to the universe, but don't necessarily believe in a higher power, and most certainly are not members of any religious groups.
