and 2 males, in a 10 gallon tank, I purchased a little 2 gallon tank, should I move the females into the little tank to have their babies or should I move the males into the little tank and leave the females in the big tank so they don't get stressed out from having to move or should I just wait until they have the babies and move the babies to the smaller tank?
Honestly, The best thing to do would probably be to move the females to the smaller tank because then you could just move the females out once they've given birth to all the fry; so you don't have to worry about them being eaten. But just make sure that when they are all the way done giving birth, to take them and put them in your 10 gallon. But keep ALL the fry in the 2 gallon tank until they are matured enough to be in the bigger tank. DON'T move the fry until they've matured enough, though, or it will kill them.
Or what I do and what's easier is just to get a breeder net.
Wait and move the babie to the smaller fish tank because the mom will eat them as soon as she has them so make sure you move them as fast as you can. The males will eat them to so you might want to put the males in the smaller tank now and when the babies are born put the babies in a cupo of water from the tank and meanwhile move the males back into the tank once all of the babies have been born. you can move the babies into the smaller tank but its a tricky job moving fry so i suggest you move the females. if possible you can add some floating aquatic plants in the tank so the babies feel secure and are not preyed upon.
I always leave them all in the 10 gallon, and when the babies are born, catch them in a net and manuver them into the 2 gallon, or buy a net breeder. The net breeder is much better in my opinion, because it is cheap, goes right in the 10 gal., and you dont have to spend $60 on fiilter, heater, airator, gravel, etc. for the smaller tank. well, wat the pet store told me to do wat to get a baby net. wich is a little thin, small wholed net that conects to the side of the tank. Wat they said 2 do is move the babies into the net right away because they can get eaten but that way none of the get stressed and they r all safe.
Move the females, when they have given birth move them straight back to the other tank, or they will eat the babies.
 What kind of aggressive tropical freshwater fish go together? I want a ghost fish, African cichlids etc?
