Hey everyone,
If you are intersted in contributing graphics to the kirupa.com site to be displayed publically at the Link to Us location (http://www.kirupa.com/me/link.htm), here are the few basic guidelines:

Link to Us Banners/Graphics

There is no official logo for the site, so be creative!
The design should be in good taste, and not offensive.
Try to keep the graphics compact in both filesize and dimensions.
AOL Buddy Icons

The width and height of the buddy icons should be 48x48.
The file size limit used by AOL IM is about 7k. Try keep your graphics' size smaller than that.
Animated GIFs are preferred.
Keep the text, graphics, etc. appropriate.
Please post all graphics in this thread as an attachment or a link. PM me (kirupa) once you have added your graphics to the thread.

The text link is a little illegible, and I am not sure darkproject (the creator of the glass icon) would like to have their icon used on non-kirupa.com sites (unless those sites have their permission also) :P

They both look a bit too plain. You should try to make it more creative! Also, the text is not legible in your second graphic ;)

I'll just do a "Save picture as..." on one then customize it.

I thought it was 50x50 also, but 48 by 48 seems to be the right size :)

the smiley looks nice, but....it's a bit too violent. I've shyed away from using the default death smiley simply because it didn't seem to fit with the, hopefully, non-death-like atmosphere of the forums :beam: :skull:

Actually AIM Icons are 50 x 50 max and about 25 kb I think. My one is 14.97 kb :).

Yea wierd is right. How will they know what you do? If you type a number, they won't see it.

You can private message me and tell me there ;). Then you can delete it from your sent messages box and there will be no trace of it :).

But if you still feel scared of parents because of that, I fully understand :thumb:.

topcatyo - Don't worry about these guys, I know what you're talking about; I don't sign up for anything unnecessary on the Internet either. For me it's not anything to do with parents, I just choose not to, most sites I come across don't seem like sites I want to give any sort of information to. It's completely your choice whether or not you want to give out any information over the net, blah blah blah, you know the rest, and if you're under 13, well, it's your parents' choice too. :P

As for image hosts where you don't have to become a member, I doubt they exist. I use my university filespace for that, and the webspace Sympatico gives me. Maybe one of your friends owns a domain and they can host you there or something. Good luck man. :)

The icon looks nice, but it's too large to be a buddy icon. The maximum file size has to be 7k. I think that is also mentioned in the guidelines you quoted :)

There was some talk about that in another thread. It seems that pixels are overlapped or something if it is 50x50.

cr12 - while the smileys look nice, I don't think they are ready to be added to the forums in their current form. The MC smiley, while it looks like the MC, doesn't look like it would fit in with the rest of the smileys. I'm trying to make future smileys retain some of the yellowish colors and facial features that all of the rest of them have.

The smiley barf one looks a little....sick. You may want to make the edge of the barf a bit colorful/not flat. It seems to end too abruptly.

photoshop is a standar, but you can use paint if you like =D (i like paint and crayolas ;))

Try to un-antialias your text, it looks kinda fuzzy in your avatar, maybe that is your compression too, you might want to switch to a .gif format if you havent already.

Some are ok... but most are just some of the smileys that have already been done just modifyed a tiny bit.
