at the moment...i don't really have much confidence in myself(skillwise). So i'm hoping the experieced guys in here can help me out with future decisions. I feel like i'm useless and i hear it all the time from my brother...I mean i can't cook, can't drive, not a handyman by anymeans, don't know anything about cars nor care. I'm not much of a labour worker when most of the guys in my family are really handy, great with cars....I'm good at speaking, arguing, explaining...Know my history really well, know my politics, culture and am decent with music (not nearly good enough to think of making a living with it)
for me...i'm most likely going to be a teacher or something but i don't know what to do because i don't want to live here after i'm done school. You all know my ambition to live in...preferably "the eternal city"....Freiburg of course :p
i'm still not sure how to study overseas :o
Or you could do what I do and study in Canada and study abroad.
More like Nuawth Shoah. :p
Salem is cool, I like it.
Why not starting to study at the Freiburg university, Kyle?
Yea me too, I was convinced 3 years ago when I started college that I wanted to become a filmmaker and here I am 3 years later studying International Relations and loving it.
So you gotta explore your options, don't force it. When you do the exploring ,whatever interests you will just stand out and grab you and then you'll know it.
As for studying outside Canada, as previously mentioned, look into a university with a strong study abroad program.

ah my brother is already in College now, he's probably going to be a police officer so he's here to stay...I'm the ambitious "i wanna get the hell outta here" brother
100% the same here. i want to leave so badly
Learn German, get a degree in it, (best way to learn it would be living in germany I think), start studiing. May be expensive if you can't get a EU passport.
There are some really expensive private universities teaching in English in Germany, as well as some public ones, for international business for example.

In which area do you live?
I live in Salem MA. The north shore of Massachusetts, just above Boston.
Sportfriend, if your in highschool which it sounds like you are, im in your exact same situation. I want to live in Germany when Im older too. I know my history, classics, literature, philosiphy. I can do math, and I do speak french, but i cant cook, I dont know about cars, and all the things I do know im not very interested in. I want to take German and Bussiness classes at Havard my senior year, which I think I will. But other then that, I have no idea what the future holds.
I don't know how old you are, but assuming that you're still in high school:
1. Go to Uni, and try to choose one that has an exchange program with Freiburg. Freiburg and Tübingen have semester long programs for students learning German from many North American universities, and these are not just limited to German majors. When looking at different universities, ask the admissions councillors. It is their job to know this stuff.
2. In your first year take a broad range of classes that just 'sound interesting'. Pay no attention at all to what you want to major in. Just test a lot of things and see what grabs your attention.
3. Study abroad in your third year. Don't worry about this at all in your first year. So long as you've chosen a college with a strong study abroad program, you'll be fine.
4. If you want to get out of your home town. Go to a uni in another province (or in the US, but this will be expensive).
5. Do not think about a career at this time in your life. A hell of lot will change in the next four years. When I was 18 I was convinced that I would be a lawyer. When I was 22 it was the last thing in the world that I wanted to do.
What kind of aggressive tropical freshwater fish go together? I want a ghost fish, African cichlids etc?
